Contemporary in design, yet classical in proportioning, East Hampton’s Town Hall takes its place within a New Urbanist Mixed-Use Development as a dignified symbol of civic engagement. The new facility finally provides a permanent home for the Town Hall and police station, formerly located in a rented building.

The Town Hall is sited on a parcel within the new East Hampton Town Center development, which was master planned in 2009 as several mixed-use buildings (residential, retail and office) leading to less dense arrangements of housing types, from single-family to garden-style apartment buildings. Amenta Emma was instrumental in the community’s original master planning process.

The three-story, 20,000-square-foot Town Hall sits close to the Town Square, overlooking an existing pond and set off by a large Town Green to be used for outdoor ceremonies and events.

Building wings house important spaces, including the Town Hall Chambers and the Community Room. A fully functioned modern police department, which required a separate, secure entrance, is tucked around to one side and includes a sally port and holding cells.
