Celebrating 2026 Promotions

Amenta Emma Architects is pleased to announce the promotion of Alexis Hoff, AIA, NOMA to Associate and Thomas Barker, AIA to Senior Associate. Both architects have demonstrated exceptional leadership, technical excellence, and commitment to the profession.

Alexis Hoff, AIA, NOMA, joined Amenta Emma in May 2019 after receiving her Master of Architecture from the University of Hartford, and has since become an integral leader within the firm and the broader architectural community. She currently works remotely from Ohio, seamlessly contributing to projects across the firm’s portfolio.

Alexis has been instrumental in advancing the firm’s values through her dedication to the JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) and Sustainability teams, notably serving as JEDI team leader during its inaugural year in 2020. Beyond Amenta Emma, she remains actively engaged with NOMA Ohio and previously served as a board member for NOMA Connecticut and participated in the AIA Emerging Architecture group.

Her commitment to design excellence has earned her numerous accolades, including the AIA Emerging Professional Award and the PWC Connecticut Rising Star Award. Alexis has been a key contributor to award-winning senior living projects, including Jefferson House and Southington Care Center, with current projects showing similar promise.

“Alexis has proven herself to be both a resourceful, proactive problem-solver and an exceptional leader,” said Principal Myles Brown. “In her project architect role on complex projects, she has earned the respect of her teams and clients alike. She’s someone I always want on my team, not just for her technical skills, but because she’s a great person who elevates everyone around her.”

Thomas Barker, AIA, CPHC, began his career with Amenta Emma in 2017 after graduating from Roger Williams University, and has grown into one of Amenta Emma’s leading designers, contributing to award-winning projects that make positive impacts for communities. His exceptional visualization skills and innovative approaches to representation have strengthened the firm’s design capabilities across its senior living and multifamily portfolio.

Beyond project work, Tom has been a driving force within the firm, serving as co-chair of both the Design Committee and Culture Committee, and as an active member of the Sustainability Committee. His leadership extends into the professional community as co-chair of the AIA Connecticut Emerging Professionals Committee and member of the AIA CT JEDI Committee. In 2021, he received the AIA Connecticut Emerging Professional Award.

“From the beginning, Tom has embodied a selfless commitment to his work, a drive for constant improvement, and a calm, even-handed presence,” said Principal Michael Tyre. “I’ve had the great privilege to watch Tom build on his innate talents and develop his design skills. His abilities for creative design, innovation in representation, and delivering engaging presentations have made him one of our greatest assets towards building a stronger design brand.”
