A Garden House model for Senior Living: Nestled into the hillside of an existing senior living community, this 72-bed Memory Care facility was designed with nature as a driving force. Passive strategies such as green roofs, sun shading, and bioswales enforce not only the sustainable mission of the project but also the community as a whole. Consisting of four 18-person “homes,” this building was designed around a household care model with country-style kitchens and dining/living areas that evoke a residential and familiar feel. Accessible patios and garden spaces allow secure access for residents to experience the surrounding landscape, which serves as the inspiration for this project.
