When Tiptree, Inc., a New York City-based holding company combining insurance operations, investment management, and Tiptree Capital investments, set out to create a new office, the challenge was designing a space that conveyed both luxury and flexibility. The office needed to reflect the firm’s sophisticated identity while also accommodating not just Tiptree’s own employees, but individuals from the companies Tiptree acquires and repositions over time, requiring a space that could adapt to an ever-changing organizational composition.
The design team responded with an elegant palette of light and dark materials, sharp lines, and rich wood finishes that establishes a refined, cohesive aesthetic throughout the 17,400 square foot space. A reception desk of solid travertine stone anchors the entry against a striking black wood panel grille, setting the tone for the interiors beyond. Perimeter offices outfitted with high-end furniture, a range of conference spaces, open work areas, and private telephone rooms give the floor plan both structure and variety. Meeting rooms dressed in smart glass strike a balance between openness and privacy, transitioning from clear to shaded to opaque with the flip of a switch to change the appearance and function of the space as needed.
The result is a luxurious yet highly functional working environment that serves the full breadth of Tiptree’s needs. A communal café and an executive corridor with a large conference room and lounge round out the program, ensuring the office supports both collaboration and focused work. With its refined finishes and adaptable layout, the space communicates Tiptree’s identity with confidence while remaining ready to evolve alongside the company itself.
