Amenta Emma team members from the Hartford and Boston offices volunteered 2 half days with Levo International this month to help build urban hydroponic farms in Hartford, CT. Levo International is a community-supported and volunteer-driven organization that uses hydroponic technology to turn backyards and empty lots into urban farms. Hartford is considered one of the worst food deserts in the country. Residents can grow fresh produce for themselves, CSA distribution, and supply partnering restaurants and non-profits with produce for their farm-to-table menus. Founder Christian Haiden, a graduate of UConn, began with hydroponic systems in Haiti as an Eagle Scout project in 2016. Read more about Levo International here.
